The Entrepreneurship Program at Women's Empowerment Development, Inc. (WED, Inc.) offers a vital pathway to economic self-sufficiency for women and parents. Recognizing the challenges of unemployment and the desire for financial independence, this program moves beyond conventional job fair frustrations to provide tangible, actionable business knowledge and support. We aim to equip individuals with the skills to "make their lives better" through entrepreneurship.

What We Offer

Our program is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of business fundamentals, leveraging past successful workshops and current strategic insights. While some past efforts were one-on-one, this program emphasizes a more structured, class-based approach (virtual, in-person, or both) to maximize impact.  Key components include:

• Foundational Business Knowledge: Covering essential aspects of starting and managing a business, from concept to execution.

• Civic & Entrepreneurial Integration: Uniquely marrying entrepreneurship with civic responsibility, recognizing their natural connection and the unique value it offers. This means understanding the business landscape within a community context.

• Leveraging Existing Solutions: Encouraging participants to explore and adapt proven business models before attempting to "reinvent the wheel," focusing on logical action and work ethic over unbridled creativity. 

• Data Harnessing & Profile Building: Utilizing data from past initiatives, such as previous entrepreneurship workshops, to build and enhance an organizational profile that can attract future opportunities and demonstrate a solid track record.

• Tangible Value & Solutions: Emphasizing the provision of real, practical solutions that address the genuine needs of individuals seeking to build their businesses. This could include guidance on business plans, bookkeeping, website development, or graphic design services.
